Saving the World
One Day at a Time
For over a decade I've devoted my career to protecting our natural resources and ensuring that they are accessible for people today and for future generations.
This mission is so audacious that I've explored several disciplines to help me accomplish it.

Passions and Projects
My exploration into asking better questions
Data Science
How do we quantify effectiveness?
In answering this question, I've developed my background in statistics, data collection, data visualization, and analysis.
In my current role as a Recreation Supervisor, I've helped to define and record my division's Performance Measures and use that information to influence our operating procedures. In my off time, I subscribe to Chartr, Visual Capitalist and lurk around Tableau Public.
Marketing
What's the best way to tell this story?
In answering this question, I've learned how to use entrepreneurial concepts to build conversion funnels, tap into tools for digital marketing, and make the most of A/B testing to put money and metrics behind our outreach.
In my off time, I like to re-do ads and graphics that in my opinion "missed their mark" in my Millennial Marketing Minute blog.
UX
Tech or Trees?
In answering this question, I've learned that these things aren't mutually exclusive. This industry continually picks a fight with tech and draws a nonsensical front that enjoyment of nature can't happen through a screen.Â
The truth is that by even having this conversation this industry is missing an opportunity to grow the next generation of guardians at scale.
In my off time, I scour the internet for the tools to create inclusive products.
Strategic Planning
How do you manage a thing that will last for millennia?
In answering this question, I've built skills in strategic planning, management, and leadership. In my current role as a Recreation Supervisor, I've played an integral role in creating and implementing our department's strategic vision, built powerful teams, and adapted new processes to scale sustainably.
Environmental Education
What's their Call to Action?
In answering this question, I helped to communicate and carry out the Interpretive Plan for LLELA Nature Preserve. The Plan outlines how we communicate the significance of these 2600 acres. Everything we've done, will do, and envision ties back to its Central Idea. In my off time, I volunteer for affinity organizations like Outdoor Afro, ISEA, and ELGL.
Inclusion and Accessibility
If everyone is welcome, what does the door look like?
In answering this question, I audit programming, product placement, and active narratives. Dismantling barriers to access in the outdoor recreation field is a multi-pronged and dynamic challenge. As a Recreation Supervisor, I work to create new partnerships, programming, and products that better serve our community. In my off time, I consume research papers on this subject.
